3 Pinays living in the Netherlands received royal honors for the noble service that they did to the community.

Filipinos around the globe are recognized not just by being hard workers. Some are known for their various talents and abilities while some are being recognized for exhibiting humanitarian acts.

On Monday, the Department of Foreign Affairs (DFA) shared this good news through a statement.

“Koninklijke onderscheidingen” (royal honors) is a yearly tradition awarded by the monarch to deserving Dutch citizens and foreign nationals for their major contributions in the society. The DFA honors our modern-day heroes for their contributions in advancing the cause and interest of the Filipinos both in the Philippines and overseas, and for bringing honor and recognition to the country through excellence and distinction in the pursuit of their profession, noble service, and volunteer work.”

These 3 Pinays recognized because of their contribution to the welfare of the Dutch society are Cecilia Francisco-Lansang,  Corazon van Campenhout-Alarcon, and Avelina Rodriguez-Baxa,

Lansang was given the recognition “Ridder van Oranje Nassau” or Knight of the Order of the House of Orange. As a minister and founding pastor of WORD International Ministries, she visits refugees through mission trips. She also served in Bayanihan Foundation a volunteer worker for 20 years.

Aside from that, she one of the people behind the Seamen’s Ministry founded in 2010, a group supporting seafarers. She also does feeding and education program that supports poor children and families in various parts of the Philippines.

Meanwhile, Alarcon and Baxa both received the “Lid van Oranje Nassau” or Member of the Order of the House of Orange award.

As a volunteer in Kapisanan ng Sambayanang Pilipino, Alarco is one of the founders of Bayanihan Foundation in the Netherlands in 1992. Furthermore, she also co-founded the WORD International Ministries. She also worked in home care for elderly in Rotterdam until 2005, the year she retired.

On the other hand, counseling, practical support, and training to Filipino migrant workers in the Netherlands are the focus of Baxa’s volunteer work. Aside from this, she personally supports 50 indigent children in Ilocos Norte. She also a board member of the Samahan ng mga Manggagawang Pilipino sa Netherlands. Baxa is also part of the organization called Stichting Kapatiran Nederland, based on the article from GMA News Online.
