Residents of Tondo Swarm to Pritil Market a Day Before the Hard Lockdown Imposed
TONDO , MANILA -residents swarm to Pritil Market and lined up early Saturday before a hard lockdown is set to be imposed in Tondo.
Previously, Manila Mayor Isko Moreno ordered a 48-hour hard lockdown in Tondo District 1 starting May 3 until May 5 as the district has recorded 81 cases of COVID-19 while District 2 has recorded 51 cases.
Mayor Isko signed Executive Order No. 22, shutting down the entire district from 5 a.m. of May 3 up to 5 a.m. of May 5. This is for surveillance of the coronavirus disease, verification or testing, and rapid risk assessment related to COVID-19.
Meanwhile, despite assurance of manila government that they will still distribute food packs for the affected residents, a large number of people was seen lining up in a market in Tondo. In a video and photos uploaded by DZBB Super Radyo, shows residents patiently waiting in line outside Pritil Market.
As of now, Manila has recorded 696 confirmed cases of COVID-19 in the city, the Manila Public Information said. While the number of COVID-19 cases in the country reached 8,772. Of this number, 1,084 recovered while 579 died.
