Cebu Pacific Says Piso Fates Not Dead Yet, Assures Low-Cost Fares
PISO FARES NOT DEAD YET – Amid the coronavirus epidemic, travelers lamented the possibility of Cebu Pacific’s Piso Fares being discontinued.
Due to the low volume of passengers, Cebu Pacific may opt to increase the prices of seats. Furthermore, social distancing protocols require airlines to leave the middle seat open.
This opens further possibilities of increased fare prices. However, Cebu Pacific’s spokes-person Charo Logarta-Lagamon assured that the airlines would continue to provide low budget airfares.
During an interview with DZMM, Logarta-Lagamon stated:
Mayroon namang ibang ways para ma-manage natin the cost of a flight. So hindi naman necessary na tataas ito at wala nang Piso Fare
Mandate na po ng Cebu Pacific mula noong magsimula ang airline 24 years ago, mandato na po na magbigay sa publiko ng abot-kaya at accessible na pamasahe. She stressed that the Piso Fare is a company mandate, and that “there will always be room for budget fare
Aside from the mandatory disinfection and social distancing practices of airlines, Logarta-Lagamon also stated that online travel transaction would be the new norm.
Moreover, she encourages checking in via website or the Cebu Pacific apps to avoid contact with ground personnel. As such, queues would only be for those who have check-in luggage.
