Netizens Lauded Jeepney For Maintaining Social Distancing For Passengers

JEEPNEY LAUDED FOR SOCIAL DISTANCING – A jeepney from Baguio got praise from netizens for implementing social distancing measures.

As the Philippines continued its fight against the coronavirus, public transportation had been suspended. However, as areas show sign of progress, some jeepneys were allowed to operate.

Usually, jeepneys are being packed full of passengers before they leave the terminals. But, because of the coronavirus pandemic, things needed to have a slight change.

This particular jeepney in Baguio put up dividers so people wouldn’t have to sit close to each other. Thus, social distancing could still be imposed even inside public transportation.

One netizen commented:

Posts like these makes me smile at how my hometown have responded to the pandemic.

Instead of the usual 20 max capacity of the jeepney, imposing the social distancing measures reduced the capacity to about 8-10 people.

Moreover, this particular jeep helps serve the people from the outskirts of Baguio going to the markets.

You can never count the Philippines out when it comes to ingenuity. I love it here. I’m from the USA and tip my hat to the resilience of the people here!

When it came to payments, the usual system of asking the person beside you to give the fare to the driver was no longer applied. Instead, the driver would get the fare from passengers beforehand.

In this pandemic, the ingenuity of Filipinos could truly shine. As such, governments and other organizations call for the people to work hand-in-hand to defeat the virus.
