Store In San Fernando, Pampanga Closed For Selling Liquor Amid Ban
SAN FERNANDO – The government of San Fernando, Pampanga recently shut down a store in Brgy. San Agustin for selling liquor amid the ban imposed to it.
According to SunStar, the the local city police, in a joint buy-bust operation with the Business License and Permit Division (BLPD) and City Health Office-Environmental Health and Sanitation Division, shut down a convenience store on Sunday morning as they confirmed that the store owner illegally sold alcoholic beverages.
Joseph Garcia, BPLD chief, said that the order for closure was issued against the store. This is in order to stop its continuous violation of the liquor ban, which is among the guidelines in the nationwide enhanced community quarantine (ECQ),
City Mayor Edwin Santiago signed Executive Order CMO 2020-031 on March 23, which implements the liquor ban.
In the liquor ban, selling and distribution and buying of any types of alcoholic beverages are prohibited.
As per the report, Lieutenant Colonel Paul Gamido, city police chief, said that the owner and two other individuals were caught red-handed and was eventually arrested during the operation.
About 1,000 bottles of assorted liquors worth at about ₱70,000 and ₱250 were also retrieved from the operation.
The three suspects are currently charged for non-cooperation and disobedience.
