Autopsy Reports Reveal Coronavirus Spread In US Began In January
CORONAVIRUS US – Autopsy reports of two patients from California reveal the spread of COVID-19 began as early as January.
Furthermore, the two patients had died in early and mid-February. According to a report from Barons, the deaths happened on February 6 and 17 weeks before the first confirmed fatality due to COVID-19.
In lieu of this, health experts from the US believe that the total death toll in the country would like to be around 45,000. As such, Jay Bhattacharya, a professor of medicine at Stanford University said models of the COVID-19 spread in the US need to be adjusted to account for the earlier start date.
This, in turn, should mean that the models will predict a larger number of current cases in the US now than they are currently predicting. How large an effect this will have on epidemic forecasting remains to be seen
Additionally, blood samples collected from 3,300 volunteers in Santa Clara County revealed the real number of COVID-19 cases should be at least 50 times higher than previously thought.
Samta C;ara was one of the first Counties to impose stay at home policies to prevent the spread of the virus in March 17. Along with this, researchers concluded that that the virus spread in New York started in February.
Moreover, the predominant strain of coronavirus that was found came from Europe. This finding proved as evidence for the mysterious pneumonia cases in New York that physicians were treating before mass testings began.
As per the article, California health officials stated expect to find more old coronavirus cases. Furthermore, Santa Clara County official Jeff Smith suggested the virus may have arrived in the US as early as December.
