Husband Pushed Wife Who Is A Wheelchaired Dialysis Patient For 6 Km Amid ECQ
WHEELCHAIRED DIALYSIS PATIENT – Amid the Enhanced Community Quarantine, a husband has to push his wife 6 Km for treatment.
The ECQ had been imposed for over a month now. With transportation being suspended, people struggle to get medical care, much like what happened to Loida Fernandez.
Fernandez couldn’t walk properly anymore, as such, they had to use a wheelchair for her. Also, the suspension of public transport added to their struggles.
Her husband has to push her wheelchair for 6 Km from their house in Batasan Hills all the way to the dialysis center in Fairview. Furthermore, they do this 3 times a week.
Because of their continuous use, their borrowed wheelchair started to get damaged. As such, the couple called for a shuttle service that could help them go to the center.
Additionally, to get to the center early, they wake up way before dawn to arrive at the center’s opening at 7:00 AM. Moreover, the wheelchair they were using was just borrowed.
According to an interview from ABS-CBN, Fernandez stated:

Luckily, ABS-CBN said they have reached out to the Barangay officials regarding the couples situation. As such, the officials promised to help the couple with their needs.
Meanwhile, the officials urged the public to approach them if they needed assistance going to their hospitals in Metro Manila.
