Chinese National Arrested For Hoarding And Resseling Medical Supplies
HOARDERS – A Chinese national was arrested by authorities after receiving intel that he was hoarding and selling medical supplies.
Authorities have been on high alert for profiteers during the coronavirus quarantine. As such, hundreds of suspects have already been arrested for trying to profit and manipulate the prices of necessary products.
This Tuesday, authorities reported six individuals along with a Chinese citizen, was arrested in Manila for hoarding medical supplies. According to a report from ABS-CBN, the suspects were arrested during an entrapment operation on Monday.
After receiving information that the suspects were selling face masks and vitamins that were over the Suggested Retail Price (SRP) without permission from the FDA, the operation was conducted.
As per the report, authorities have seized around 14,150 pieces of face masks valued at around P169,000. Additionally, 86,400 capsules of multivitamins were also found estimated at around P720,000. Furthermore, the suspects also had 600 test-kits worth P180,000.

In lieu of this, the NCRPO chief Police Maj. Gen. Debold Sinas warned those profiteering and hoarding medical supplies.

The suspects will be charged with violating the Bayanihan As One Act, Consumer Act, Price Act, and Mandatory Reporting of Notifiable Diseases and Health Events of Public Health Concern Act.
