Road Repairs To Continue But In Major Roads Only Amid ECQ – DPWH
DPWH – The Department of Public Works and Highways said that road repairs will continue amid Luzon ECQ but only in major roads.
According to GMA News, DPWH-NCR district engineer Ador Canlas said that these road works can be initiated in the following roads:
- EDSA
- C5
- Roxas Boulevard
Canalas noted that these roads are vital in transporting essential services amid the threat of the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19).
“Ang sabi po ng task force (Inter-Agency Task Force), sa major thoroughfares lang po puwede and road repair and construction kasi ito rin po iyong may impact sa delivery ng essential services,”
He added that workers in the said areas will still observe ECQ protocols, adding that the number of workers allowed to work are limited.
“…they will wear Personal Protective Equipment, observe social distancing, and they will be staying in a facility designated for them. Hindi muna sila uuwi,”
“Gagawin po natin ito kasi habang walang traffic mapapabilis ang trabaho,”
As per the report, Canlas said that the road works will only last from 8 AM to 5 PM in accordance to the curfew in place amid ECQ. It is expected to be lifted or modified after April 30.
Non-essential travel, as well as public transport vehicle operations are restricted during the ECQ.
