3 Family Members Got Arrested after Caught Gambling Using Money from Gov’t
Three (3) family members got arrested after caught gambling amid strictly imposed ECQ and allegedly use the money received from the government.
In a report of ABS-CBN News, three family members were caught on the act gambling at their home Sitio 2, Barangay 37, Calayab, Laoag City on Saturday. The suspects were later arrested for violating the enhanced community quarantine.
P372 cash bet on gambling and cards were confiscated from the 2 women and 1 man involved in the incident. the two women admitted that they newly received P5,500 cash aid from the social amelioration program of the Department of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD).
Under the social amelioration program of the DSWD, assistance will be given to low-income households, including senior citizens, persons with a disability, single parents, overseas Filipinos in distress, and pregnant mothers, who were affected by the coronavirus disease 2019 pandemic.
The three will face charges in violation of Presidential Decree 1602 or Anti-Gambling Law and possibly be charged violation of enhanced community quarantine protocol.
Recently, many government beneficiaries including 4Ps and social amelioration recipients were got arrested after being involved in illegal activities such as gambling, illegal cockfighting, and drugs.
