Chinese Brand Luncheon Meat Got Confiscated in Manila
LUNCHEON MEAT – dozens of canned Chinese brand luncheon meat got confiscated in a grocery store in Tondo, Metro Manila, Monday.
According to the Manila Public Information Office Facebook page, more than six hundred pieces of canned luncheon meat were seized from China after the Manila Veterinary Inspection Board (VIB) conducted operations in Tondo on Monday, April 13th.
Led by VIB Officer-in-charge Dr. Nicanor Santos Jr. operation of the VIB Enforcement Squad against a mini grocery on Masinop Street in Tondo, Manila. About 655 pieces of Ma Ling luncheon meat from China were seized by authorities.
It was noted that last year the Philippine Food and Drug Administration banned the importation and distribution of meat products from countries with cases of African Swine Flu (ASF), Avian Influenza and Foot and Mouth Disease.
Countries with cases of the aforementioned epidemics include China, Hungary, Latvia, Poland, Romania, Russia, Ukraine, according to the Manila Public Information Office.
The operation of the VIB is in accordance with Food Safety Act 10611, Memo Order no. 6 series of 2019 o “Temporary Ban on Importation of Processed Meat from Countries Infected with African Swine Flu, Avian Influenza and Foot and Mouth Disease.”
