Chinese Medical Experts Arrive In PH But Have Major Concerns
CHINESE MEDICAL EXPERTS IN PH – About seven days after arriving in the Philippines, the 12-member Chinese medical expert team had some concerns about COVID-19 in the country.
Based on a report from CCTV Asia Pacific, the medical experts feared that the Philippines is at risk of being unable to cut off the source of COVID-19. The team made the conclusion after visiting six hospitals in the country and held conference calls with local medical experts.
As such, they suggested that the country must erect “Fangcang” hospitals as soon as possible. These are large-scale temporary hospitals rapidly built by converting existing public venues.
The same types of hospitals were built in the Central City of Wuhan as a means to contain the viral outbreak. However, these make-shift hospitals were reported to be faulty or had large infrastructure problems.
Meanwhile, the head of the Chinese medical team Weng Shangeng stated:
Because of limited beds and testing capacity in the Philippines, many of the COVID-19 patients are still quarantined at home,
Furthermore, the lead Medical expert from China further emphasized that establishing a “Fangcang” hospital is a “fundamental” measure to increase recover and reduce infection rates.
In this way, mild cases can be admitted to the hospital for observation so as to prevent mild cases from becoming severe cases,
Moreover, after their visit to the Research Institute for Tropical Medicine (RITM), reports said that the medical team noted that the country needed to improve its virus detection capacity.
