Teen In Sagay City, Negros Occidental Caught For Claiming To Have COVID-19
SAGAY CITY – A teen, 18 years of age, from Sagay City was arrested after claiming online that he was infected with COVID-19.
According to SunStar, the police identified the teenager as Argie Ligaray of Purok Singbenco, Barangay Plaridel in the said city in Negros Occidental.
Local acting police chief Police Major Antonio Benitez Jr. said that the suspect posted on social media and claimed that he was tested positive for COVID-19.

Based on the evidence, his friends tried to prevent him from getting arrested, further urging him to delete the post. However, he dismisses the warnings and kept on making false claims that he got the virus.
As per the report, Benitez added that in a follow-up operation, Ligaray attempted to escape from the police but was eventually arrested in a forest area of the barangay.
The teenager is currently charged with violation of section 6 of Republic Act 11469, also known as the Bayanihan to Heal as one Act of 2020.
RA 11469 strictly bans the spread of false information about the virus.
