DSWD Says Almost 4 Million Out Of 18 Million Have Received COVID-19 Cash Aid

DSWD ON CASH AID – As the coronavirus crisis hit the Philippines, thousands of Filipinos have temporarily lost their sources of income.

Additionally, due to the extended lockdown, more citizens struggle to find funds to support their families amid the pandemic. As such, the government had given cash aid to residents through the Social Amelioration Program.

Meanwhile, according to a report from GMA, the Department Of Social Welfare and Development (DSWD) had already given almost 4 million out of 18 million households cash aid.

DSWD spokesperson Irene Dumlao stated that the emergency cash assistance was already rolled out to over 3.7 million Pantawid Pamilyang Pilipino Program (4ps) beneficiaries.

Additionally, mover than 112,000 low income families who are not members of 4Ps have also received up to P8,000 cash aid.

As per the report, almost P16.3 billion worth of COVID-19 cash assistance was already released to 4Ps member households. Meanwhile, P582 million were received by non-4Ps households.

Moreover, the department also plans to roll out P16,000 in two months to 18 million low-income households throughout the Philippines. This time, it would the DSWD would have a budget of P200 billion to aid Filipinos in the pandemic.
