LGBT Member Posting on Facebook that His Positive Got Arrested
An LGBT member in Sagay City got arrested in a hot pursuit operation after posting on Facebook that his positive with COVID-19.
An 18-year-old LGBT member in Sagay City got arrested in a hot pursuit operation of Sagay PNP after he posted in Facebook account identified as Argie Serognas Ligaray that his positive with the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19), Monday.
According to the report of Aksyon Radyo Bacolod, the suspected was arrested in Purok Singbenco, Barangay Plaridel Sagay City where he currently staying, after the said mocking post was reported to Inter-Agency official of the city, said Police Major Antonio Benitez Jr., acting chief of police of Sagay PNP.
Benitez added that, the suspect will face charges for spreading fake news or false information about COVID-19, according to Section 6 of Republic Act 11469 or the “Bayanihan to Heal as One Act”.
Benitez also revealed that before the arresting, the suspect attempt to escape and run to the woods which result in a chasing incident. the suspect, Ligaran, is now in the custodial facility of Sagay City PNP.
The Department of Health (DOH) previously warned certain individuals who are spreading fake news in social media about the coronavirus. Health Secretary Francisco Duque told the residents to only rely on the news and information that DOH released.
