ILOKANO – In this topic, we are going to learn about one of the many languages of the Phillippines called Ilokano language.

According to TagalogLang, it is the third most-spoken language in the Philippines and very distinct from the official Filipino language.

It can be spelled as Ilocano, Ilukano, Ilucano, Iluko, Iloco or Iloko. The ancestors of the people known as Ilocanos arrived the country via boat or viray / bilog.

The term is derived from two words i- which means “from”, and looc which means “bay”, hence, they are called,”people of the bay”. Modern Ilocanos call themselves Samtoy, which is derived from the phrase sao mi ditoy or “our language here.
