Vico Sotto Urge NBI To Clarify His Alleged Violation Of Quarantine Policy

VICO SOTTO – The mayor of Pasig City, Vico Sotto urged the National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) to clarify his alleged violation of quarantine protocol.

Amid the “enhanced community quarantine,” Pasig City Mayor Vico Sotto was allegedly violated the “Bayanihan Act.” The National Bureau of Investigation (NBI) sent a letter to the young mayor inviting him to appear in their office.

It was confirmed by NBI Deputy Director Ferdinand Lavin, “for LGU officials for disobeying national government policies or directives in imposing quarantines under the Bayanihan to Heal As One Act,” he said.

Vico Sotto took to his Twitter account to air his opinion about the summon. He said: “Ang nakapagtataka.. bago pa namin matanggap yung sulat, may media nang nagtatanong sa amin tungkol dito… Anyway, back to work.”

Based on a report from Inquirer, Vico Sotto filed a response on Tuesday, April 7 to the National Bureau of Investigation. He demanded the bureau to explain his possible violation of the Bayanihan law.

“We have filed a formal response stating that we have fully complied with the directives of the national government,” said Pasig City administrator Jeron Manzanero.

Last week, the NBI asked Vico Sotto to submit a “written explanation” about his alleged violation. According to the report, he also asked the agency to clarify which of their actions were being investigated so that they could give a response.

“We received the letter from the NBI on April 1. The very next day we wrote a letter to the NBI… Until now we have yet to receive a reply, but we filed a formal letter saying that we are fully compliant with the policies of the national government pertaining to the enhanced community quarantine,” said Manzanero.
