The politician has been a popular subject of memes because of his old age. Now that there is a COVID-19 outbreak in many parts of the world, some were talking about the health condition of Enrile.
Regarding this issue, the politician stated in his previous post on his Facebook Page: “Some people are asking if I am dead, or if I have COVID 19. Well, I am sorry to disappoint the rumormongers. I am still alive, and I do not have COVID 19. Thank God!! Enjoy your silliness, rumormongers. You might get what you are wishing for me. I will pray for your soul and health.”
When asked about the memes, he said that he feels flattered and grateful for the creativeness of many people. “I am very very much touched emotionally. I wish you all the best,” he said.
Following this, Juan Ponce Enrile’s granddaughter Kristen Ponce-Enrile helped him to show the online community that he is very much alive. In the short video, the 96-year-old waved at the camera and said, “COVID go away.”
The video that was posted on the Twitter account of Enrile’s granddaughter has already reached 30.6 thousand views. Meanwhile, the one that was posted on Kristen’s Facebook account has 75 thousand views, as of press time. “Blessing your feed with the legend himself,” the granddaughter of the seasoned politician wrote in the caption.
