As Pandemic Continues, COVID-19 Reaches New Milestone With Over 525,000 Infected
COVID-19 INFECTED OVER 525,000 – The coronavirus pandemic has reached new levels as it passed the half-million mark.
Previously, it took COVID-19 3 months and a couple of days to reach 100,000 infections. However, it merely took 12 days to complete the next 100,000.
Additionally, as other countries began mass testings, the global number quickly spiked and within a month, the coronavirus had infected over 525,297 individuals worldwide.
As the numbers in China began to decline, the virus quickly gained traction in countries such as Italy, South Korea, Iran, and now Spain.
However, this comes as no surprise to some virologists and epidemiologists who predicted the viral outbreak’s capacity to spread. In a previous report, a virologist that fought the SARS virus stated that it was 10x worse.
Meanwhile, an epidemiologist said that it could possibly spread faster than the Spanish Flu. But, the virus currently has a fatality rate of about 2% globally. In addition, 80% of the infected have mild to no symptoms.
But, scientists such as those from Iceland had recently discovered 40 mutations of the coronavirus. They noted that the coronavirus has the capability to violently mutate, causing it to be more contagious yet less deadly.
As the virus continued its spread, governments race to contain an outbreak in their respective countries. Moreover, countermeasures such as enhanced community quarantines were enforced in countries like the Philippines.
However, to successfully contain the virus, the World Health Organization stated that the key to defeating the virus is through testings and isolation. Sadly, countries like the Philippines currently have a limited supply of test kits.
This is a highly debated topic in the country as reports show how politicians get VIP Testings for the virus even without any symptoms.
