Lionel Messi, Pep Guardiola Donate To Help Spain Fight Coronavirus
LIONEL MESSI – Argentinian footballer Lionel Messi and Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola make big donations to help Spain fight the coronavirus.
The novel coronavirus or (COVID-19) has spread rapidly around the world. The number of cases continues to rise and has caused panic and stress to all the people.
Currently, Spain is the second most-affected European country after Italy. The country now has 2,696 deaths and 40,000 COVID-19 infected patients.
Based on a report from GMA News, Manchester City manager Pep Guardiola and Barcelona forward Lionel Messi have each donated 1 million euros to help fight the coronavirus. The footballer and Guardiola are from the region of Catalonia.
The Argentinian footballer’s donation will be split between Barcelona’s Hospital Clinic and another health institute in his home country.
According to the report, Manager and former Barcelona player Pep Guardiola offered his donation to a campaign set by the Medical College of Barcelona (MCB) and Angel Soler Daniel Foundation.
“Pep Guardiola has made a donation of one million euros to the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation for the acquisition and supply of health equipment to deal with the Covid-19 pandemic,” MCB said.
“The donation campaign promoted by the Medical College of Barcelona and managed through the Angel Soler Daniel Foundation aims to collect medical materials and financial contributions from collegiate doctors and the general population, for the purchase of medical equipment and equipment that is currently lacking in health centres in Catalonia.”
“It will also help finance the alternative production, through 3D printing and other methods, of respirators and personal protection equipment for healthcare staff.”
The deadly virus from Wuhan, China hit Italy real hard. The county has more than 6000 deaths and is still under lockdown. China, the epicenter of the virus, is now recovering after 3000 fatalities.
