Manila Mayor Isko Gives Financial Assistance to City Gov’t Employees
Manila, Philippines – Manila Mayor Isko Moreno Domagoso released P60 million as financial assistance to government employees amid COVID-19 pandemic.
Amid coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic President Rodrigo Duterte declares ‘Enhance Community Quarantine’ to contain COVID-19. Duterte explained that the enhanced quarantine will limit the movements and transactions of everyone.
Executive Secretary Salvador Medialdea has also issued a memorandum declaring the suspension of classes from March 17, 2020, to April 14, 2020 due to the enhanced community quarantine. While Palace asked public and private companies to suspend work and let their employees to work from home.
Meanwhile, in the Facebook post of Manila Public Information Office, Manila City Mayor Francisco “Isko” Moreno Domagoso signed ordinance No. 8620 which allocates about P60 million to be used as financial assistance for all employees and job order workers of the city government amid the COVID-19 pandemic.
Manila Mayor Isko explained that the initiative was made to help ease the burden of their workers.
He said, “I have asked the Manila City Council to authorize the early release of the midyear bonus of all regular employees of the city government.”
“Para po maibsan ang hirap na tatahakin ng ating mga manggagawa sa pamahalaang lungsod dahil sa COVID-19 pandemic,” he added.
