China Helps Italy In Fight Against COVID-19, Sends Medical Supplies & Experts

CHINA HELPS ITALY – Italy had been the hardest-hit country aside from China affected by the new coronavirus.

Because of the rising number of confirmed cases, Italy’s Prime Minister has placed the nation under quarantine. Along with this, only necessary establishments are allowed to open such as pharmacies and groceries.

According to an article from Straits Times, China and Italy reaffirmed bilateral ties in a phone call. Beijing offered to provide Rome with medical aid in the fight against COVID-19.

Italian Foreign Minister Luigi Di Maio said the Italian government was learning closely from China’s “successful fight” against the virus. Additionally, he expressed hopes that China would help Italy in its fight.

Moreover, China’s State Councillor and Foreign Minister Wang Yi empathized with the challenges Italy is confronting.

As per the article, Italy is faced with a lack of medical supplies and equipment to fight the deadly virus.

Following the talks, a China Eastern Airlines’ A350 had departed for Rome, Italy from Shanghai. Along with it, 31 tons of medical supplies including plasma from recovered patients.

Additionally, there were also 9 Chinese medical experts that were brought to further assist with the epidemic in Italy.

According to reports, the plane was loaded with about 3.86 million pieces or 4,556 boxes of protective gear to help overseas Chinese in Italy.

Currently, there are over 126,380 cases of COVID-19 worldwide. Along with this, the number of fatalities had risen to over 4,634. However, the number of recovered patients went up to more than 68,313.
