Health Workers Ask Public to Do Not Buy Bulk of Face Masks Due to Shortage
Health workers ask the public to do not to buy a bulk of face masks because front liners are running out of their necessary safeguards.
Amid the COVID-19 scare in the country, some sanitary essentials and face masks in the different supermarkets and drug stores in Metro Manila were out-of-stock. Because of some shoppers who wanted to ensure that they’re going to have a sufficient supply of daily needs.
However, there are resellers who are taking advantage of the situation and tries to earn money. Others buy a bulk of sanitary products to sell or as their stock in case of shortage.
According to a Facebook post by a name Ma. Theresa Jadia, she urges everyone not to buy volumes or multiple face masks if they are painless or unnecessary; this is because their front liners are running out of their necessary safeguards.
Since the Philippines has confirmed coronavirus cases, the Department of Health (DOH) has called on the public not to carry out hoarding or excessive purchase of face masks so that our health workers, especially N95 masks, cannot be depleted.
“The N95 mask, we want to reserve this for the health workers who are actually handling cases either PUI’s (persons under investigation) or confirmed positive cases. We ask everybody huwag nang makiagaw sa supplies diyan dahil ang nangangailangan talaga ‘yong mga nangangalaga,” DOH undersecretary Eric Domingo said.
