Western Visayas DRRM Reveals Update On Coronavirus In Region VI

CORONAVIRUS UPDATE WESTERN VISAYAS – The Philippines had seen an increase in the number of COVID-19 cases in the past days.

Currently, the total number of confirmed cases in the Philippines is at 24. Yesterday night, President Duterte announced four more confirmed cases adding to the previous 20.

In lieu of this, President Rodrigo Duterte had placed the Philippines under a state of public health emergency. Following this, several classes in the Metro Manila area had been suspended.

Meanwhile, in the Visayas, there are currently no confirmed cases of the new coronavirus. However, there have been several Persons Under Monitoring (PUMs) and Persons Of Interest (PUIs).

In Bacolod, 23 PUMs have been placed under quarantine after voluntarily contact the public health offices. Those PUMs had a recent travel history to COVID-19 hit countries.

All PUMs voluntarily informed the City Health Office that they had travel history abroad. However, Tan stated that some of them are asymptomatic.

The PUMs will undergo the standard 14-day quarantine. Meanwhile, some are already about to finish their isolation period.

In addition, those who finished their quarantine would be given a certificate from the City Health Office.

Following this, the Western Visayas Regional Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council released their update regarding COVID-19.
