Vials with Blood Samples Found Along Subic Bay Shoreline

Vials containing blood specimens were found floating on the shoreline of Subic Bay amid the Coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) crisis.

According to the report of Inquirer, at least sixty-five (65) vials filled with blood specimens were retrieved by authorities. Subic Bay Metropolitan Authority (SBMA) Chair Wilma Eisma sain in a statement that the vials were found inside a plastic container that was discovered by a tourist.

According to Eisma, the vials could be hospital waste that was just washed ashore. She added that she had told the SBMA Law Enforcement Department (LED) to collect and turn over the vials to the SBMA Public Health and Safety Department (PHSD) for proper handling and disposal.

“The SBMA-PHSD will also work with the Department of Health to determine where these blood vials came from” Eisma said.

The discovery stirred panic among residents area amidst the coronavirus disease 2019 (COVID-19) confirmed cases in the Philippines. DOH announces that there are four (4) new confirmed cases. This sums the total of infected in the Philippines to 10.
