According to SunStar, the local police office reported that there are 548 more crimes in the year 2019 than its previous year. This represents an increase to 31.15%.

The increase in volume attributed to the proactive approach of the police in engaging people who would be criminals.

The Acting Chief-of-Police Lt. Col. Wilfredo Alarcon Jr. disclosed in a City Peace and Order Council meeting that there are about 2,307 in 2019 compared to 2018’s 1,759.

He said, however that among the causes cited for the increase was the police’s more aggressive approach to prevent the commission of crimes.

In elaboration, there were 22 murders, four homicides, 128 physical injuries, 23 robbery incidents, and 15 rape cases.

Furthermore, there were confiscated illegal drugs worth at about ₱12.3 million from 137 suspects in the 106 operations the police enacted in the year 2019.

In that same year, around 1.8 kg of “shabu” and 335.26g of weed were confiscated.

As per the report, twelve were caught along with 12 loose firearms while 55 guns were voluntarily surrendered by their owners.

165 wanted persons were arrested during 165 operations enacted in 2019.
