Foreigner Wanted For Child Abuse In US Caught By Dumaguete City Cops

DUMAGUETE CITY – An American who was wanted in the United States for child abuse was arrested by the Dumaguete City Police on Thursday.

According to Inquirer’s Cebu Daily News, the arrest of an American, identified as Christopher John Erickson, aged 49 years, in Barangay Banilad in the capital city of Negros Oriental was by virtue of a Mission Order (MO) and a warrant of deportation.

Erickson is currently facing charges for harassing a child in 2nd degree, child abuse in 2nd degree, and forcible touching and endangering the welfare of the child.

Officer-in-Charge of the local city police Lieutenant Wilfredo Alarcon Jr. states that Erickson went hiding in the city for the past eight months. Erickson had no derogatory records while in the city.

As per the report, the American was arrested by a joint local police led by Alarcon, the Philippine Center For Trans-National Crime (PCTC) Visayas Field Office commanded by Police Lieutenant Colonel Mark Gifter Sucalit, and aided by the Bureau of Immigration Central Office, Adelmo Rubio and US Embassy in Manila led by Jocelyn Matibag.

Alarcon said that the suspect will be brought to Manila on March 6 (Friday) for deportation.
