Vatican Plans Special Virus Measures for the Pope
The Vatican plans a special virus measures for Pope Francis amidst the fears over coronavirus or now called COVID-19 in Italy.
Recently, Authorities in the wealthy regions of Lombardy and Veneto ordered schools and universities to close for at least a week. Authorities also ordered to shut museums and cinemas and called off the last two days of the Venice Carnival.
The number of cases of the highly contagious virus sums up to 152, all but three of them coming to light since Friday. Italy’s coronavirus death toll had risen to more than 148, the civil protection said.
Meanwhile, in the Vatican, official spokesman Matteo Bruni said that the measures will cover the activities of the pope, the Holy See, and the Vatican City state. As a result, there will be changes in Pope Francis’s schedule to avoid the dissemination of the virus.
According to Tribune, the Vatican has not yet released a statement regarding the crowd contact of the pope. It said that the 83-year-old pope could possibly be kept away from crowds or whether he would stop shaking hands with visitors.
Pope Francis has not been seen in public since announcing during his traditional Sunday prayer before crowds on Saint Peter’s Square that he was skipping an annual spiritual refuge south of Rome because of a cold. He had been seen coughing and sniffing since last Wednesday.
