Authorities Seize Cash, Spiders, Illegal Substance In Cebu City Jail
CEBU – Authorities confiscated sachets of suspected illegal drugs, spiders, cash from cells of Cebu City Jail inmates during early morning greyhound operation.
There are a lot of things prohibited in jail. Things that are found in prison cells that are not permitted are confiscated immediately by the authorities.
Among the things that are prohibited in all prisons are flammable liquids, illegal drugs, drug-related items, cigarettes, weapons, alcohol, phones, or any equipment that may help aid escape. Visitors that bring prohibited items in prison will be banned from all visits.
Based on a report from Cebu Daily News, authorities have confiscated cellular phones, sachets of suspected illegal drugs, blade weapons, cash, and spiders during their early morning inspection at Cebu City Jail’s male dormitory on Saturday, February 29,2020.
The early morning greyhound operation was led by Police Brigadier General Albert Ignatius Ferro, PRO-7 director. He and his team confiscated all the illegal substances and other prohibited items in the jail facility.
According to the report, the Bureau of Jail Management and Penology (BJMP-7) and Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency (PDEA-7) also participated in the morning inspection.
“This is a synchronized regional operation for all the BJMP jail and coordination between PRO-7, BJMP, and PDEA-7. To check if they are hiding illegal drugs and other contraband inside the facility,” said Albert Ignatius Ferro.
