Authorities Discover Over 2000 Chinese POGO Workers Have Criminal Records in China
CHINESE POGO WORKERS – Over 2,000 Chinese nationals working for the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators were deported over their criminal records in China.
Undeniably, a huge part of the populace in the Philippines is composed of Chinese nationals. Ever since, there is a close tie between PH and China that is why even Filipino join their new year celebrations.
Many Chinese people have established progressive businesses in the Philippines. Their products and services have greatly hooked the Filipinos.
Aside from Chinese nationals who put up product businesses, some Chinese nationals work for the Philippine Offshore Gaming Operators or POGO. Based on a report on GMA News, there are over 70,000 Chinese that are part of the gaming industry.
However, it seems that many of these Chinese POGO workers do not have a clean state in China. According to the report, over 2,000 of the Chinese nationals were deported after PAGCOR and the Chinese Embassy discovered their criminal records.
According to PAGCOR assistant vice president for Offshore Gaming and Licensing Department Jose Tria, they are now on the pursuit to clean the gaming industry due to the issues. He stressed that part of it is the allegation that the industry brought criminal activities.
“We are trying to clean up the industry kasi ang dami ngang issues na lumalabas,” he said.
Currently, there are still no further information regarding the deported Chinese nationals. More updates may be posted soon.
