Another Filipino Tests Positive For The New Coronavirus In UAE

FILIPINO POSITIVE FOR CORONAVIRUS – Health authorities from the United Arab Emirates had reported two new coronavirus patients bringing the total of confirmed cases to 11.

The new confirmed cases in the UAE were found in a 34-year-old Filipino national and a 39-year-old Bangladeshi national who had come in contact with a Chinese national diagnosed with the virus.

According to an article from ABS-CBN, the Health Ministry stated that the two were in stable condition.

In mainland China, more than 2,100 people have succumbed to the new coronavirus which emerged from Wuhan in December. Since then, it’s spread has skyrocketed.

On January 28, the UAE had recorded its first coronavirus case, a family of four Chinese nationals who were tested positive for the virus. Since then, flights to mainland China, except for Beijing were suspended.

The majority of the people diagnosed with the virus were Chinese citizens. Another Filipino national and one Indian national have also been infected according to the health ministry.

However, three of those previously diagnosed, all Chinese nationals, have fully recovered from the virus, according to the health ministry.

But, the UAE government has not disclosed where patients were being treated or which parts of the country they visited. 

Meanwhile, aboard the Japan cruise ship, Diamond Princess, the number of Filipinos infected with the novel coronavirus inside the vessels docked in Japan increased.

The number of Pinoys in the Japan cruise ship infected with coronavirus increased. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, from 44 on Thursday, the count is now at 52.

On the positive side, at least one of those Filipinos who tested positive for coronavirus in the vessel has already recovered. There are a total of 558 Pinoys on board the said cruise ship.
