Update on Number of Pinoys Infected w/ Coronavirus Inside Japan Cruise Ship

JAPAN CRUISE SHIP – The number of Filipinos infected with the novel coronavirus inside the vessesl docked in Japan increased.

The fight against the novel coronavirus is still ongoing. Everyday, more and more people test positive for the said disease that first emerged in Wuhan City in China.

Currently, Wuhan is under a lock-down. The disease has infected more than 60,000 individuals in the country and taken more than 1,000 lives. Allegedly, a bat soup served in the market in the city may have sparked the outbreak.

Aside from the over 60,000 coronavirus cases in China, there are also several confirmed cases outside the country. Among those patients are the passengers and crew of a vessel docked in Japan.

The said cruise ship, a Diamond Princess vessel, was quarantined for 14 days in the pursuit to curb the spread of the disease. However, the cases of coronavirus inside the Japan cruise ship continue to increase everyday. Some patients were Pinoys.

Those who tested positive for coronavirus were brought to local hospitals. As the quarantine period has ended, some passengers like the Americans were already repatriated by their home countries.

Sadly, the number of Pinoys in the Japan cruise ship infected with coronavirus increased. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, from 44 on Thursday, the count is now at 52.

According to Department of Health Assistant Secretary for Public Health Services Maria Rosario Vergeire, they are now verifying the positive cases of coronavirus in the cruise ship. Currently, the total count is at 634 confirmed cases.

On the positive side, at least one of those Filipinos who tested positive for coronavirus in the vessel has already recovered. There are a total of 558 Pinoys on board the said cruise ship.
