PH First Esports Degree, What To Expect In The Curriculum
ESPORTS DEGREE IN PH – E-sports has blossomed into one of the biggest and fastest-growing industries in the entire world and universities are starting the ride the new wave.
This time, the Philippines might be the next country to have an esports curriculum established. The Lyceum of the Philippines University (LPU) and Tier One Entertainment, had collaborated to develop a four-year esports curriculum.
Once approved by the Commission on Higher Education (CHED), a Bachelor of Science in E-Sports would now be offered this coming school year. But, what subjects would be offered?
Tier One Entertainment had yet to disclose the full list of subjects yet but stated they were “80%” done. However, we could always base their subjects to previously established courses from universities abroad.
In the US, Becker College offers a full four-year course in Bachelor Of Science in Esports Management, which we assume would contain similar courses with the curriculum being drafted by LPU and Tier One.

As you could see there are not many “gaming” subjects offered in the course. This trend is also true for the other universities aside from Becker.
Bachelor’s Of Science in E-Sports would most likely focus on the business aspect of the industry paired with planning and strategy, branding, economics, and statistics.
Do note that if you want to become a professional player in a certain game in E-sports, you would have to become part of the 1% of top tier players in your country to compete competitively.
This holds true for traditional sports as well. However, the course would most likely cater to people who would like to get into the industry through other means aside from professional play.
With the industry ever-expanding, pro teams in e-sports, much like traditional sports teams, include a wide array of people with different expertise such as psychology, coaching, marketing, analysts, and much more.
