Daiana Menezes has been battling against breast cancer for two years now
Brazilian actress-model Daiana Menezes revealed that she has Stage 2B breast cancer which she knew since 2018.
When she turned 30 two years ago, she noticed something different in her body. “I felt a lump or, I’d say, ‘cyst’ on my right breast, and thought it was very small,” she said talking to PEP through Direct Message.
Because of that, she opted to undergo an ultrasound. “They couldn’t find it, and yet, I insisted. I put my arm down and they saw a weird-looking cyst,” she said. Then, she was told to have a biopsy but her series of shows in Dubai hindered her to do that immediately.
After the biopsy, she already thought that the result is something serious as she was told to have a scheduled consultation and did not just receive a text message. She said that she kind of prepared herself for the possible result of the biopsy.
On the website of Cancer Treatment Centers of America, this was written under the Stage 2B breast cancer category:
- The tumor measures 2 cm to 5 cm and cancer has spread to the axillary lymph nodes, or
- The tumor is larger than 5 cm but cancer has not spread to the axillary lymph nodes.
Daiana Menezes also shared the treatment she is having. “I had a lumpectomy. It wasn’t a very stressful surgery. I remained positive and, no, it wasn’t painful until I woke up,” the Brazilian celebrity said. She added that she felt like her armpit was missing as the doctors had to remove some of the lymph nodes.
The actress chose the alternative and natural methods rather than undergo chemotherapy. She has a weekly IV, once a month of hyperthermia, infrared sauna, hyperbaric oxygen, psychological treatment, and ozone therapy.
She also needed to adapt to a new lifestyle and diet which was not easy for her. “I am definitely healthier! I watch my diet, my lifestyle, my sleeping hours, my stress,” Daiana said without regretting her healthier choice.
With this chapter in her life, the actress-model said that she learned the essence of life after hitting the “rock bottom of sickness, emotionally, physically, and mentally.” As of now, she said that she can’t call herself cured but perhaps a survivor.
She leaves this advice to those who are also battling against cancer: “Don’t be scared of cancer. Scare cancer before it scares you. How do you scare cancer? Take good care of yourself, love yourself, avoid stress, eat right, sleep well. Meditate, love. Forgive others, forgive yourself. Pray.”
