Former Senator Antonio Trillanes believes that President Rodrigo Duterte will eventually grant the franchise of ABS-CBN.
Trillanes is a known critic of the present administration. Because of this, he is now facing several cases in court for supposedly linking the Chief Executive of the Philippines and his family to the illegal drug trade. However, the former Senator said that he is not bothered by these cases filed against him.
He also said during an interview on ANC that there were two countries in Europe that offered him political asylum. However, he refused to accept this because he believes that the opposition is actually winning in this fight.
“People are slowly realizing that our earlier assertions were true. I’ve seen how this administration got into power back in 2016, wherein he had that almost cult-like image and following…Now you can see conversions by the day,” the former Senator stressed out.
Trillanes believes as well that on the franchise renewal issue, the odds will be in favor of ABS-CBN. He said that the step of the Solicitor General of filing a petition to cancel the network’s franchise showed that the administration is desperate to hold the power. “If you’re secured, you won’t do these things,” he stressed out.
“I believe based on history, they (administration) will fold under public pressure and ABS-CBN will eventually get the franchise,” Trillanes added. He also said believes that the President will soon fold and grant ABS-CBN franchise because of public pressure.
The former Senator reiterated during the interview that the pressure from different sectors should be sustained and not just from the company itself.
