How true is it that Pres. Duterte wants to sell ABS-CBN to other businessmen?
ACT-TEACHERS Partylist Representative France Castro believes that President Rodrigo Duterte wants to sell ABS-CBN to other businessmen.
The lawmaker stated this during a recent interview with Abante amid the issue of the Kapamilya network’s franchise renewal. According to Castro, there are two reasons why the Chief Executive of the Philippines wanted the downfall of the ABS-CBN.
She said that there are both personal and political reasons behind the stand of the President against the media company. The congresswoman stressed out the previous statement of Duterte that the Kapamilya network did not air his political ad during the 2016 elections.
It can be recalled that in several speeches of the Chief Executive, he mentioned this issue. He said that even though he paid for the advertisement, the network did not air his ad campaign.
Furthermore, Rep. Castro stated that when it comes to the political reason why President Duterte wants the downfall of the TV network is that because he is aiming to offer the company to other businessmen.
“‘Pag mawala ang ABS-CBN, gusto niyang ibenta, gusto niyang ipabenta doon sa iba. Parang meron siyan pinapaburan, tingin natin. Marami pa siyang ibang negosyanteng pinapaburan,” Castro said in an interview.
Meanwhile, the support for ABS-CBN is overflowing on social media, from the people under the network’s management until those who have spent most part of their lives watching Kapamilya shows. On the other hand, it is also a known fact that several people expressed online their desire to end the network’s operation.
