According to GMA News, Health secretary Francisco Duque III said “None as of the moment. Let’s keep it at that,” to reporters in the Palace.

His comment came as the Inter-Agency Task Force for the Management of Emerging Infectious Diseases was scheduled to meet later to review the entry ban on foreign travelers from mainland China and administrative regions Hong Kong and Macau; and Taiwan. The task force is also composed of the health department, among others.

The government of Taiwan is upset by the travel ban and discussed possible retaliatory measures against the nation, which might include the cancellation of the visa-free entry for Filipinos. Also known as the Republic of China, it insisted that it’s an independent state and urged to lift the ban.

As per the report, Department of Labor and Employment secretary Silvestre Bello III also requested the lifting of the ban on departing Filipino workers.

The Palace said that the reason for the temporary travel ban was for the safety of the Filipino people, not politics.
