Nigeria Warns Over Mysterious Disease that Killed 15 and Infected Dozens more
Nigeria government warns that a mysterious disease has left 15 people dead and infected dozens more in their country last week.
The Nigerian government has warned of a “strange epidemic” which has left 15 people dead and infected dozens more in less than a week. The outbreak of the mysterious disease, which causes vomiting, swelling and diarrhea.
According to the report of Independent, it is said that it was first recorded late last month Benue State, southeast of the capital Abuja. The number of persons affected by the mysterious disease has risen to 104 said by the Nigerian senator Abba Moro.
The illness broke out in Oyi-Obi community on January 29, 2020, and has killed 15 people. The first victims – Happiness Ogbu, Onah Ogbedu, Wisdom Agwo and Andy Edu – all died alike within 48 hours of contact.
Osagie Ehanire, Minister of Health, stated that the illness had been laboratory tested and showed no symptoms of Ebola, Lassa fever or coronavirus. The minister said the Nigeria Centre for Disease Control (NCDC) was working hard to unravel the mystery.
The minister said that NCDC had activated an Emergency Operations Centre (EOC) to establish surveillance measures to contain its spread. He also advised Nigerians to contact NCDC immediately 0800-970000-10, to report strange cases and if they feel symptoms of the strange disease.
