Japan Cruise Ship Confirms 39 More Infected With Coronavirus

39 MORE INFECTED – While the coronavirus in China continued to run rampant, there’s still a crisis at sea aboard the Japan Cruise Ship, Princess Diamond.

Meanwhile, China had recorded its biggest death toll for the Wuhan coronavirus yet with more than 108 confirmed deaths. With this, the global death toll for the Wuhan coronavirus had now reached over 1,100 deaths.

According to Japanese health officials, an additional 39 passengers had tested positive for the new coronavirus. With this, the total number of infected is now 174.

In lieu of this, the health minister of Japan, Katsunobu Kato stated that out of 53 new test results, 39 were found positive for the virus. Following this, he added:

At this point, we have confirmed that four people, among those who are hospitalized, are in a serious condition, either on a ventilator or in an intensive care unit

The Japan cruise ship, Diamond Princess, had been under quarantine since February 4. Health officials ordered the quarantine after a former passenger who got off the ship tested positive for the virus.

Based on an article from ABS-CBN, as the boat arrived off the coast of Japan, authorities initially tested over 300 of the 3,711 people aboard the ship.

In addition, authorities have expanded their testing to those with new symptoms or had close contact with the other infected passengers or crew.

Those who are left aboard the ship are asked to stay inside their cabins with the occasional brief visit onto open decks. Along with this, passengers were asked to wear face masks and to keep distance from each other.

Thermometers were also given to the passengers to help them regularly monitor their temperatures.

Diamond Princess is expected to be under quarantine until February 19, 14 days after the confinement began.
