‘Pray for Wuhan’ Billboard Ad on EDSA Amid nCoV Goes Viral

An LED billboard ad on EDSA saying ‘Pray for Wuhan’ went viral on social media and earned various reactions from the netizens.

Recently, Wuhan, China has stricken by the 2019 novel Coronavirus outbreak that killed almost 618 Chinese people with over 22,112 confirmed cases and stills continue to rise.

The outbreak of the coronavirus had already caused the deaths of over 1,000 people worldwide. Along with this, more than 42,500 people have been infected with the virus.

The Philippines who has also confirmed cases of coronavirus after Chinese citizens flew to the country before the government of China ordered a total lockdown. Some of the people who are under investigation are discharged and reported clear.

Meanwhile, netizens exchanged various speculations and comments on social media because of the “Pray for Wuhan” billboard along EDSA. This comes after BBC News Philippines correspondent Howard Johnson shared the billboard attached to the walkway bridge connected to Metro Rail Transit Line 3’s Boni Station.

The words “Pray for Wuhan” and the hashtags “Pray” and “Wuhan” appear on the billboard. The red with starred billboard backgrounds resemble the Chinese flag.

Some netizens said that there was no wrong to pray to Wuhan – where the novel coronavirus began and spread. Other netizens have been speculating that the government may be behind such billboard. While some also say it is possible that China did it.

One netizen named Inday Espina Varona said she knew made the billboard and knew it had permission to name it. She said Alvin Carranza was the name behind the billboard.

Carranza is the owner of a large digital billboard business. No client pays for the billboard, she also added that Carranza did this without any return of exchange received.

“I know who did this and have permission to confirm. Alvin Carranza was not paid anything to mount that. He is the owner of a big digital billboard business. There was no client for this one. Gratis. “For humanity.”
