Dynamic And Static Character – Difference And Meaning

DYNAMIC AND STATIC CHARACTER – In this topic, we’re going to learn and discuss the difference and meaning of dynamic and static character.

Dynamic And Static Character

In a story, a character can be two types. He or she can be dynamic or static. But what is the difference between the two?

Difference

According to SeattlePi, the difference is basically change in the character. For dynamic, he or she undergoes a drastic chance in one or more ways, while a static one will still remain the same until the end of the story.

Meaning

  • Static Character
    • A static, as mentioned above, remains the same from the beginning to the end of the story. What the static has to distinguish himself or herself from the rest is his or her existing persona, confidence and appeal to readers. Traits such as compelling, heroism, and charisma can work better with this type since they already have it at the beginning of the story.
  • Dynamic Character
    • Dynamic characters, on the other hand, are easier to build as the story progresses. They usually have to go through a major life transition, have a coming-of-age experience, pull through trials and tribulations, mature, have a change of heart or develop more likeable qualities, or at times, become a villain.
