The Overseas Workers Welfare Administration (OWWA) has promised to provide P10,000 cash assistance, accommodation, transportation to affected HSWs stranded at the airport.

“Filipino domestic helpers from Hong Kong and Macau may lose their jobs if the travel bans and lack of flights to those regions is not resolved by the end of February,” Sharp President Alfredo Palmiery, who is currently in Japan, said in a statement.

An estimated 100 HSW stayed at the airport because they were not allowed to leave due to the imposed travel ban on China and its territories.

“The grant will help ease the burden on would-be departing workers,” said Labor Undersecretary Renato Ebarle.

Aside from cash assistance, those stranded at the airport will be provided accommodation at the OWWA halfway house while preparing their travel arrangements back to their provinces.
