Career that Dingdong Dantes Will Choose if he is Not an “Artista”
DINGDONG DANTES – GMA-7 actor Dingdong Dantes revealed the career he would choose if he’s not a celebrity.
Celebrity doctor Vicki Belo couldn’t help but gush over Zia and Dingdong’s sweet moment. She said she has never seen the actor as happy and fulfilled as he is now.
Dingdong Dantes is definitely one of the most successful celebrities in the Philippines. Surely, some fans wonder what if he didn’t choose the showbiz life.
During the press con of the Pinoy adaptation of the hit Korean drama series “Descendants of the Sun,” the actor revealed what career he would pursue if he’s not an actor. Based on a report from PEP, he said he would be following the footsteps of his grandfather Brigadier General Jose Sixto Dantes Sr. However, his grandfather died before he was born.
“Growing up, yung values na na-instill sa akin ay isang pamilya ng military men, dahil yung grandfather ko, hindi ko na siya naabutan because he passed away a year before I was born.”
According to the report, Dingdong Dantes said he grew up with families who served in the military. His father’s siblings joined the military and said he grew up idolizing them for their courage.
“Siya yung original na Sixto, so he retired a colonel, and nung namatay siya, naging general. That’s how it is, kapag nag-retire ka, you’re given a rank higher. So, dun nag-umpisa, hanggang sa yung mga kapatid ng tatay ko, pumasok din…”
“Growing up, parang naging idol ko sila. One of these days, sabi ko, magsilbi rin ako,” he said.
Based in the report, the 39-year-old actor first enlisted as Philippine Navy reservist in 2006. In January 27, was promoted to Navy Lieutenant Commander.
“Kahit na civilian ka, kahit may ibang propesyon ka, if you are a reservist, you can also serve in that capacity, but as a volunteer,” Dingdong said.
