Half of Wuhan Population Fled Before Lockdown, Raising Fears for Global Pandemic

Almost half of the Wuhan population fled outside of the city before the government order total lockdown due to the NCoV outbreak.

The rampant disease in China now, the novel coronavirus, is alarming several countries across the globe. It was initially recorded in Wuhan City which is now under a lock-down.

Nearly half the population of the Chinese city at the epicenter of the coronavirus outbreak left town before it was put on lockdown. Wuhan’s mayor, Zhou Xianwang, said that some 5 million people left the city during the Lunar New Year travel rush, raising new fears of a global pandemic.

According to the report, the flu-like illness has more than 2,700 are infected of the China coronavirus. From 41, at least 80 people recently died due to the said disease.

The travelers took off for Hong Kong, Thailand, Singapore and Japan, as well as other parts of China. Seventeen cities in China, encompassing more than 50 million people, have now been locked down as the virus has continued to spread.

Meanwhile, the Chinese Center for Disease Control and Prevention confirmed the virus originated at the Huanan Seafood Wholesales Market in Wuhan. The market sold allegedly live animals including wolf pups, foxes, rats and peacocks.

Chinese authorities temporarily barred the trading of wild animals on Sunday. Health officials around the globe remind people that have been in China to immediately consult the doctor if you experience flu-like symptoms.
