Bakeshop Worker Stabbed To Death In Santa Barbara, Iloilo

SANTA BARBARA – A bakeshop worker was killed in a stabbing incident in the municipality of Santa Barbara, Iloilo province.

According to Panay News, the incident occurred in Roosevelt Street, Barangay Zone II, Santa Barbara, Iloilo.

The fatality is identified as Jan Jan Lañada, 26 years old fom Kalibo, Aklan. Police reports show that Lañada, who temporarily lives in Barangay Zone II, died due multiple stab wounds on the body.

His friend, Romel Mederable of Barangay Trangka, Maasin, Iloillo, was considered as the suspect of the crime.

Police investigations also show that Mederable and Lañada were on their way to Lañada’s boarding house when a heated argument occurred between the two around 8:25 AM on January 22. Mederable was allegedly prompted to stab his friend. What triggered the fight was still yet unknown.

As per the report, the police officers who responded to the crime found Lañada’s body near his boarding house with a knife stuck to his chest. They initiated a follow-up operation which led to Mederable’s arrest.

Mederable was now detained in a lockup cell of the Municipal Police Station and will face charges.
