NDRRMC: About 10,000 Families Affected By Taal Volcano
NDRRMC – NDRRMC recently updated that 10,455 families are affected by the eruption of Taal volcano, as of Wednesday (January 15).
The National Disaster Risk Reduction and Management Council said that this is higher compared to 9,527 families that was recorded on Tuesday afternoon.
According to ABS-CBN News, 9,508 families are currently taken refuge in 189 evacuation centers.
Most of them came from cities and towns of Alitagtag, Balayan, Batangas City, Bauan, Calaca, Calatagan, Lian, San Pascual, Sto. Tomas and Tuy, Batangas. There are evacuees who came from areas in Cavite such as Alfonso and Tagaytay.
The Department of Agriculture (DA) reported that about ₱577 million worth of agricultural property has been damage due to Taal.
As per the report, most of those recorded came from 2,000 different species of animals and crops such as coffee, which is the most affected, palay, mais, saging, cacao and many more/
DA added that they will initiate soil sampling and analysis in the affected agrcultural area.
They added that volcanic ash might be used as a fertilizer and might help repair the damaged crops.
