Tito Sotto received criticisms for his proposal to have a cloud seeding action in Taal amid the eruption
A netizen slammed Senator Tito Sotto due to his proposed cloud seeding action is Taal amid the eruption.
The statement of the Senate President was published on the official Twitter account of ABS-CBN News Channel (ANC) on January 13. Senator Sotto was trying to propose a step in order to address the problem of ashfall.
The post stated this: “Senate President Tito Sotto: I’m proposing Cloud Seeding action in the #TaalVolcano affected areas and not wait for the rain. I sent word to the executive dept through Bong Go and ES Medialdia. Water solves the ashfall debris.”
Apparently, this did not sit well with a netizen. Twitter user @jerichorayel, who appeared to be an educator, contradicted the statement of the politician with scientific facts. His post stated:
“Naituro ko ito sa STS pero hindi ako ang best person to tell you.
In case you want to know:
Rain + volcanic ash = wet volcanic ash (Lahar)
Rain + NOₓ or SOₓ = acid rain
Nitrogen and Sulfur oxides are emitted during volcanic activities.”
The Senator insisted that “Now is the time for cloud seeding in the Taal Volcano affected areas!” However, the netizen continued to elaborate on reasons why cloud seeding won’t help alleviate the situation but worsen it.
With this reply from the Tito Sotto, he even received more criticism from other netizens. Here are some of the comments:
“Mahirap yata magpalipad ng eroplano duon. Itong si Sotto ang katangahan parang rice ng mang inasal, unli!” – Twitter user @Jak_Holero”
“what to expect from a person who finished high school on 10 years which prompted ms tapia to say “sa wakas! para akong nabutan ng tinik sa dibdib!” – Twitter user @wood68
What can you say about this?
