According to a report from Sunstar, the village officials on the drug watchlist was confirmed by Police Lieutenant Colonel Ariel Pico.

He stated that they have an ongoing tokhang operation. Following this, he said that it’s up to the individuals on the drug watchlist to surrender or to change totally.

Pico urged those in the drug watchlist to surrender to the authorities. “Our number one priority is the campaign against illegal drugs“, added Pico.

Kagawad Romeo Canlas of Barangay 2 was drinking in the compound of kagawad Rino Dellarna of Barangay 26 around 9:25 p.m. Following this, six unidentified men stormed in and fired several times.

Kagawad Romeo Canlas was the only person targeted. All of his friends that night were unharmed. As per the report, the assailants ordered them to drop to the ground as they killed Canlas.

Pico added that those tagged in the drug watchlist have the option of clearing their names to the BCPO or any police units in the Negros Occidental or in any region.

However, Pico refused to name the four village officials tagged in the drugs watchlist. He said that the list was submitted by their confidential informants.

The BCPO spokesperson also added that the validation of the names is ongoing. “We have drop boxes in 61 barangays and those names were submitted in the barangays and we are also validating it since 2018“.
