Vet Suggests Putting Pets Indoors for their Safety Amid the Taal Volcano Eruption Effects
TAAL VOLCANO – Amid the ongoing natural occurrences, a veterinarian advised bringing of pets indoors for their safety.
Currently, most people are monitoring the updates regarding the Taal volcano following its recent eruption. It is no secret to the public that the ash fall may be risky to the health.
In line with the natural occurrence, several offices and schools have announced the suspension of work and classes. It is for the safety of the people. Many are also wearing protective masks to prevent the inhalation of ash.
Aside from protecting ourselves, we must not also forget our pets amid the natural occurrences in line with the Taal Volcano eruption. Based on a report on ABS-CBN News, a veterinarian advises bringing the animals indoors.
According to Dr. Silver Nano, animals may inhale more particles compared to humans. Based on the report, here are some tips from the Philippine Animal Welfare Society (PAWS):
- Keep the pets indoors if you can.
- Assure that the water and food bowls of the pets are not exposed to ashes.
- Bring your pets to the vets in case you notice some coughing, sneezing, and breathing difficulties on their part.
- Do not allow your pets to lick the ash. Wipe them or give them a bath.
PAWS Executive Director Anna Cabrera expressed that the ash can do permanent damage to the eyes of the animal. Prolong exposure to it may lead to the death of the pets.
