Conflict In Neighborhood In Talisay City, Cebu Leaves Brothers Dead
TALISAY CITY – A conflict that occurred in Talisay City, Cebu, leaves with two men, identified as brothers dead.
According to SunStar, the brothers were shot dead by a police officer, who happened to be their neighbor in Barangay Dumlog in the said area past 10 PM, January 11, 2020.
The brothers were identified as Joel Cabrera, aged 35 years, and Jerbes Cabrera, aged 30 years.
The police officer, identified as Staff Sgt. Sidney Alisoso, aged 32, was arrested at the local Police Station. Alisoso is a member of the Regional Drug Enforcement Unit of the Police Regional Office 7 in Cebu City.
The victims were reported to throw stones at Alisoso’s house before the incident happened. Alisoso said that he called the Police Station for assistance.
Radio dySS reported that before the team came in the area, he went out to talk with the two. Jerbes then allegedly pulled out a bolo and attacked Alisoso, who parried the attack, resulting ta a cut in the arm.
He stepped back, pulled out his firearm and shot at the two brothers, which he described as self-defense. It was also reported that the fatalities were drunk.
As per the report, Alisoso surrendered to the Talisay City police and turned in the said weapon, identified as the government-issued 9mm Glock 17 pistol.
The brother of the victims Jonathan Cabrera said, on the contrary, that his brothers did not throw stones at Alisoso’s house and there was no confrontation.
He added that his brothers were repairing their house and debris happened to struck Alisoso’s house, who happened to be near the Cabreras.
Joel, who was asleep at that time, was allegedly dragged by Alisoso and shot him. Jerbel, awakened by the gunshot, saw his brother on the ground. He approched his brother but Alisoso allegedly shot him.
